DESCRIPTION:UKZN Inaugural Music Showcase Press Release\nThe UKZN School of Arts (Music) is proud to announce its inaugural Showcase concert which will take place at 19:00 on Friday 01 November at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre. African Music and Dance, Jazz and Popular Music, Opera, Choral Music and Western Art Music are well-established performance streams in the School of Arts.  This multi-genre concert recognizes that collaboration and representation of the culture and traditions of our diverse community is central to an effective and progressive education.\nThe concert will feature performances by student soloists and ensembles, including the African Music and Dance Ensemble, the UKZN Jazz Ensemble and Big Band and the Pop Voice Ensemble. Our Opera students will perform selections from a Zulu translation of Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute’/‘Umtshingo wemilingo’ as well as other well-loved operatic works.
