UKZN Alumni 2025 Weekend Getaway Creates Unforgettable Memories at Premier Resort Cutty Sark Hotel

The UKZN Alumni Relations Office once again delivered an unforgettable experience during its highly anticipated 2025 UKZN Alumni Weekend Getaway, held at the picturesque Premier Resort Cutty Sark Hotel in Scottburgh, KwaZulu-Natal. The annual event, which continues to grow in popularity, brought together alumni from diverse backgrounds to reconnect, unwind, and celebrate their shared UKZN heritage.

This year’s getaway offered a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and networking opportunities, all set against the serene coastline of the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. Over the weekend, alumni enjoyed two exciting and memorable activities designed to showcase the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region.

Participants had the opportunity to explore Botha House in Pennington, a historic landmark surrounded by lush gardens and coastal charm. The visit offered a peaceful and scenic experience, allowing guests to socialize over tea and coffee, appreciate local heritage, and enjoy the quiet elegance of this iconic estate.

The Umdoni Park Trail – following the tour of Botha House – provided breathtaking forest and coastal views as alumni embarked on a refreshing nature walk and a picnic breakfast in the forest.

Other participants opted for an exhilarating Ocean Safari, where they experienced the thrill of exploring marine life along the KwaZulu-Natal coastline—an unforgettable highlight for many.

The Weekend Getaway remains one of the most cherished events on the Alumni calendar. Beyond the activities and scenic surroundings, it offers graduates a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with old friends, make new memories, and engage with the UKZN community in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. To make the weekend even more special, the Alumni Relations Office provided UKZN-branded gift bags, hats, and the latest edition of UKZN Touch magazine.

UKZN Alumni Relations extends sincere appreciation to all participants who made the 2025 getaway a success. Planning for next year’s event is already underway and promises even more adventure, connection, and celebration. Alumni are encouraged to join future getaways—an ideal opportunity to explore, relax, and network while celebrating the enduring spirit of UKZN.
